I was lucky enough and got picked by Saal-Digital (Germany) for testing and reviewing a photo book and wall picture of my choice. I received both items (in separate orders as I ordered the book some days later than the wall picture) 3 days after placing the order. They arrived safely and thoroughly packed.

I chose an A5 photo book (15cm x 21cm) with a glossy cover without padding and a silky matte finish for the pages. Saal-Digital supplies software via Download for designing your photo book. The software is very easy to handle and provides you with a huge collection of designs. The option to save different projects makes it very easy to switch between the processes of creating different items and also enables the user to interrupt the procedure. The photo book itself is premium-quality. The pages are very handy due to their thickness and the quality of the photos is magnificent – color intensity as well as brilliancy is second to none! The aspects regarding a very high-quality item were very important to me as I designed this photo book with the aim to use it as a portfolio of my favorite works of the last years. The silky matte finish of the pages prevents unwanted traces of use like fingerprints. The bookbinding is very even which prevents photos spreading over both sites from looking odd.

Aside from the photo book I also chose a wall picture printed on an Aluminium-Dibond plate (30cm x 45cm) with profile-mounting. The ultra-modern 6-color printing technique gives your image a luxurious matte finish while the direct print on Aluminum-Dibond ensures excellent picture quality combined with great durability. You can use this kind of wall picture inside but also outdoor! The colors are impressing and vivid whilst every single detail is extremely sharp. The printing technique provides a really high saturation and ensures a great coverage, even for large areas of a single color. The profile-mounting with a bordering rail enables a hovering look of the picture 1cm off the wall. Once again I used the Saal-Digital software for designing the wall picture. The process was very easy, intuitive and super quick. All in all the wall picture printed on Aluminium-Dibond is excellent regarding its quality and look. The flexibility, durability and the low weight of the material allow various areas (inside and outside) for presentation.


In comparison to other vendors Saal-Digital is more on the pricy side but if you set great value on outstanding quality, you won’t be disappointed and therefore investing a bit more money is completely justified. I utterly recommend Saal-Digital if those aspects apply to you and especially if you aim for a professional representation of your images.
